21 human foods that can make your dog sick

When we adopt a puppy, we bring a friend to our home. We consider our dog as a family member so we give him everything to eat. But not every food is good for your dog’s health. We have enlisted 21 human foods that can make your dog sick.

1. Coconut or coconut products:

Coconut products are not likely to cause serious effect on dog’s health but coconut water is rich in potassium so its consumption sometimes can lead to diarrhea, upset stomach or pain in stomach.

These veggies can cause gastrointestinal irritation in the dog’s stomach. It results toxic in nature when consumed in high volume.

3. Salt and salty snack foods:

Don’t share the snacks with your pup as the chips contain a large amount of salts that can lead to excessive thirst and urination. The symptoms include vomiting, diarrhea, depression, and tremors.

4. Nuts:

The nuts such as walnuts, peanuts, and pecans should be avoided as their consumption can lead vomiting, diarrhea.

5. Uncooked meat/eggs:

The uncooked food and eggs lead to the skin and coat problems in your dog because it contains bacteria which can harm the body of your pet.

6. Bones:

Feeding your pet with a raw bone seems to be a natural and healthy for it. The bones are made of calcium but the only risk with the bone that it might get choke in your pet’s digestive tract.

7. Chocolate:

The chocolate is not recommended for dogs as it is rich in sugar content and can cause allergy (like itching) to your dog.

Garlic is also not good for your dog’s health as it may cause the damage to the red blood cell.

11. Grapes and Raisins:

The toxic substance in these fruits is not known but it can lead to kidney failure in your pet. So avoid giving them to eat.

12. Coffee:

The caffeine in coffee contains substances that are found in cocoa seeds, when ingested by pets it can cause nausea and abnormal heartbeat.

13. Avocado:

The skin and leaves contain an oil-soluble toxin that can be dangerous for the non-human mammals hence recommended not to give it to your pets for eating.

14. Macadamia Nuts:

Nobody is sure about its toxic source but it causes vomiting, weakness. So if accidentally your pet eats it, you can consult with your vet immediately and can expect a full recovery.

15. Tomato Plants:

Ripe tomatoes are not injurious for your pet’s health but yes if it is eating it unripe or the leafy green part of the plant then it may cause a problem to your pet in the form of weakness, distress.

Its indigestion can even lead to life losing threat to your dog’s life as it contains xylitol substance. So be careful where you store your gum.

Plain and unsalted normal popcorns may not harm your pet but the high level of salts and fat can lead to dehydration and obesity in the long term.

These seeds are not preferred by vets as consumption of mustard seeds can cause vomiting or diarrhea in your dog.

19. Potato leaves:

Dogs have a habit of chewing the raw part of the plants or fruits but they can be very dangerous for dogs causing seizures or cardiac arrest.

20. Alcohol:

It is better to keep your dog away from the alcohol because ingestion of alcohol can make your dog very sick. The symptoms noticed are difficulty in breathing, diarrhea, and depression.

Dough with yeast can lead life-threatening bloat of gas through increase gas production. Hence it is considered as toxic to dogs.
