Gurgaon is not known for its peaceful nature, but the society has just hit a new low. A few days back, residents of Block E, DLF Phase 1, Gurgaon noticed all stray dogs missing.
Based on the complaint of animal activist, Amita Singh, a case was registered on Mar 13 under Section 429, IPC and Section 11(3) of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.
The police team, along with the activists, started searching for the missing dogs and soon found five puppies buried in a vacant lot of the same Block 1.
In case you were thinking that the people who did this would have used some humane method of killing, you are wrong. All the puppies’ heads were crushed by bricks. A brutality that shocked even the police team who were there!
As per the report in Hindustan Times, some residents of this block, including the owner of a guest house, had been threatening the people who fed these stray dogs. And these people are the primary suspect.
Yes, stray dogs often pose a problem to residents. Yes, they can be aggressive in some cases as well. But to kill puppies with bricks is a level of cruelty and depravity that I have not seen yet.
Knowing how people in India don’t even pay for bigger crimes, there is a slim chance that the culprits, in this case, will ever be punished by law. I can only hope that Karma comes into play someday for these scum of society.
Further, it is also up to us to always be aware of what is happening in our societies and take action before things reach such a level.
Rest in peace pups – hope you find a better place than this.
